If you’re in the wealth accumulation phase of your life, I think buying a home is a terrible decision (in most cases). Prove me wrong. Seriously. I’m not being rhetorical. I want to see if there’s math that says otherwise.

Sam, if you're talking specifically in Austin then it's a hard deal because you're in a metro area. Move out to Marble Falls and it's a completely different dynamic for an investment (plus the land...is gorgeous). That alone is an investment in your family's mental health.
I agree in investing in it to be happy and I likely will buy a very expensive house for that reason.

It's the path of least resistance. But at the end of the day, it's your home and you're in Texas. So life will be good. Pull the trigger. Hahaha. Besides, T&theH aren't going anywhere but up...I'm totally happy to contribute to your mortgage. They make me happy to read news.
