Here's what my company is doing: 1. The Hustle: build 5m email audience+loyalty and profit with some ads 2. Trends - research businesses we should start/invest in and keep paying subscribers in the know (and make WAY more profit). 3. Found/invest starts based on Trends research

No reason to be sheepish about advertising. You provide a great service to tons of brands helping them reach your audience, and to your audience who otherwise might not have heard about them. But the diversification is awesome. Love it.

I don't mind advertising. I love all types of money. But I never, ever want to have to have it. And I always want our company to come from a position of fuck you. Meaning, we can say no to any advertiser and we'll be fine.

Could you do a post/podcast about what the early growth rate should look like in growing an email list? (assuming no existing network to help). Would just use social media/reddit/etc to get the word out. How long to 100, 1000, 10k subscribers?

I like that you do ads - if services want to target me, I respect that they’re finding me through the hustle email I appreciate that you’re working to be a “transparent” hedge fund - I hope that culture never ceases - well done and keep it up

Love this. Can you expand on 3.? Do you invest in the Trends community specifically (readers who tell you about something they're launching) or in a general trend (and you don't care who acts on it?) How much of a signal do you want to see before making your bets?
