Here's what my company is doing: 1. The Hustle: build 5m email audience+loyalty and profit with some ads 2. Trends - research businesses we should start/invest in and keep paying subscribers in the know (and make WAY more profit). 3. Found/invest starts based on Trends research
4. Tell Hustle users about it and fill them in on all the fun. Changing on people consume news and building companies. Simple but hard...and very fun! Notice: Selling the company + raising money isn't on the list of priorities.
Another note: advertising is simply a means to an end so we could bootstrap. As of now, subscriptions make up a massive amount of our revenue and will likely be much bigger soon, as well as other digital products.
