4. Tell Hustle users about it and fill them in on all the fun. Changing on people consume news and building companies. Simple but hard...and very fun! Notice: Selling the company + raising money isn't on the list of priorities.

Another note: advertising is simply a means to an end so we could bootstrap. As of now, subscriptions make up a massive amount of our revenue and will likely be much bigger soon, as well as other digital products.

How did it start and when did the full vision develop? Did you know all 4 steps immediately or started and filled in the blanks as you went?

The goal from day 1 was build a huge audience, profit from ads, use ads to build amazing, non-ad stuff, fom readers. This is why we haven't launched lots of emails or hired 1000 writers like buzzfeed. Would make it too unfocused on 1 audience and thus harder to expand.
