Just spoke with my dr. She works a lot with homeless and addicts. She said since covid started, SF homeless have been given hotel rooms - they've seen a massive uptick in drug overdoses. Her hypothesis: hotel rooms made it easier to do drugs and easier to be lonely.

This is something I think a lot about when people discuss the homeless issue in SF. Lack of affordable housing isn't a perfect solution. If people are addicts, an apartment isn't a magic fix. Helping them kick drugs, which is people need to want, is step 1.

Seems like you’re ignoring the obvious: Lots of people enjoy doing drugs and don’t care about being homeless. To you it’s a homeless problem...to some it’s a conscious decision.
