Just spoke with my dr. She works a lot with homeless and addicts. She said since covid started, SF homeless have been given hotel rooms - they've seen a massive uptick in drug overdoses. Her hypothesis: hotel rooms made it easier to do drugs and easier to be lonely.
Additionally - doesn't really change the actions as most homeless in SF are drug addicts. So, that's the issue we need to solve.

The issue with that is drugs are all around homeless people and a way of coping with their situation. You have to take them out of the toxic environment first. I suspect it’d lower their need for coping mechanisms or dependencies. (Big fan of the podcast btw
