This is something I think a lot about when people discuss the homeless issue in SF. Lack of affordable housing isn't a perfect solution. If people are addicts, an apartment isn't a magic fix. Helping them kick drugs, which is people need to want, is step 1.

You’re right, I think about this too. Finding shelter for people helps but we need todo it in conjctuon with the healthcare to treat their disease. If someone was homeless and had cancer, we wouldn’t get them an apartment and call it good...we would also get them treatment.

That's really interesting. In Bristol (city I'm from in SW England) where they also provided emergency accom for the homeless, they saw a reduction in OD's. And instead a surge in demand for rehabilitation. Maybe its down to the ancillary services provided with the accom.
