One thing that annoys me is when tech nerds find old tech/ideas/businesses that are new to them (but not the world) and say it's the future as if it's just been discovered. Ex) newsletters. Been here FOREVER. Some are big, some are small. Some great, some not.

Fair but I don't think it's just tech companies that do this. The hype machine needs feeding.

I think the whole "email sucks" and "meetings suck" have valid points but there are simple things that have been around for ages that reduce these by huge amount. E.g. forcing organisers to have an agenda for meetings and keeping emails short and succinct!

I think many of the people's points are valid and great. My issue is the hubris of "this is so new and i've just discovered it before everyone". Instead of "this has been a model forever. we're gonna exploit it but bigger, better, and slightly diff"

Have you heard about this totally brand new thing called distributed work? I’m told no one has ever done it before March 2020. What’s old becomes new again. Local papers

RE - how many tech bros rent an apartment or buy a house and think everything and everyone in RE is dumb/and or easily fixable with an iPhone app?

One i hear is “food will change forever” given Covid. Have heard a lot of “cloud kitchens + delivery” are the future/food will never be the same. 1. Those ideas have existed forever/trends have existed for a while 2. Think ppl are overestimating impact of covid over long term.
