I LOVE people who are bold...so, go ahead and make huge statements! Love that. And finding old stuff but making it better...LOVE that. But come on...let's not be thick about it. What's another old bit of tech that bros act like they've just recently discovered?

a bit of this is cyclical i think... as new technologies/methods gain mass adoption (think email marketing) and hit a critical mass where users get sick of receiving it, they'll pitch that physical mail is the new wave, because no one is doing it anymore. and on and on

I’m not sure if there’s some sort phenomenon I’d dub the Columbus Effect, but there’s certainly something to “tech nerds” beating an old drum like it’s the new ish. Not different than making the old cool again so people can remix. Sometimes you get a mix that’s legit AF.

I don’t think that’s exactly the case, most of people in pitches who repackage an old idea know it’s not novel, but they make these grandiose claims because it’s what gets people excited.
