I have been there and a great city to live and work amidst nature around it.
@darrenmurph would vouch for it, I am sure :) -
100% would recommend. The Blue Ridge Parkway with a convertible or a cornering machine is where dreams are made. Incredible hiking and photography, food and music. And it's a craft beer mainstay as well, if you're into that. Come on over! NC is a wonderful remote work state.
