Fair pt. There are immigrant laborers in the Midwest, but I’d guess we are close to capacity on those jobs. I think it’d be pretty hard to build new communities not dependent on farming in rural states when the ability to migrate to existing cities is such an enticing option

I would add that here in central Illinois, there’s more diversity thank you’d expect—and not just immigrants. Plenty of non-white families and professionals who have made lives and families here.
