Have you ever seen immigrants in any of those rural places you mentioned? The answer is likely no, because immigrants tend to congregate in big cities where there are jobs. It’s naive to think immigrants would come here and settle in Iowa and not LA
Many are in Iowa and other rural areas. My family’s in the agriculture industry. Massive amounts of Mexican immigrants in Midwest working on farms.

Fair pt. There are immigrant laborers in the Midwest, but I’d guess we are close to capacity on those jobs. I think it’d be pretty hard to build new communities not dependent on farming in rural states when the ability to migrate to existing cities is such an enticing option

I would add that here in central Illinois, there’s more diversity thank you’d expect—and not just immigrants. Plenty of non-white families and professionals who have made lives and families here.
