Let’s get this straight; “Chasing clicks” is not inherently bad. And clickbait, aka outrageous headlines, is also not inherently bad. The NYT and virtually any other pub with more than 30 employees has some1 works on shaping content based on traffic data. And that’s ok.

Pranks and comedy are generally harmless entertainment but when you're trying to provoke anger and fear solely for clicks, not sure. Filming bum fights on World Star and political outlets running unverified stories solely to provoke outrage are not a net positive for the world.
