Let’s get this straight; “Chasing clicks” is not inherently bad. And clickbait, aka outrageous headlines, is also not inherently bad. The NYT and virtually any other pub with more than 30 employees has some1 works on shaping content based on traffic data. And that’s ok.
And there’s also a place in the world for just stupid, funny, gossipy stuff. TMZ, WorldStar, barstool. I LOVE IT. It’s mostly clickbait. That’s great because it’s funny. Same with huffpo, briebart, or buzzfeed. Yes. They’re clickbait and outrage driven. But that’s not insult
As long as it doesn't hurt your credibility if your business depends on it, isn't it?

Not sure. Clickbait headlines can affect you emotional anchor, ability to differentiate between indulgence and depravity; the way pyramid/payday schemes can shake your financial compass. It can be funny and outrageous to well-read, highly aware individuals, not everyone.
