Two huge reasons why going public seems miserable: 1. Quarterly earnings: 3 months is such a short time. Hard to make cool new stuff or improve old stuff when you're medium/big. We should get rid of this. 2. Guidance: having to guess where you'll be is a pain for innovation

On first reflection I agree but it is curious that despite the short time window, quarterly results do vary and predictions are obviously off enough. Proof that enough interesting does happen? Even if interesting == 'mostly external forces' or lagging indicator?

1. Quarterly earnings are typically required by lenders and/or investors in the private market. Gotta do these either way. 2. Who says you have to give guidance? Just b/c many others do? Don’t do it. You’ll get the investors you want, those not seeking constant ST targets.
