I think the #1 reason startups fail is the founders run out of energy.

This happened to my old company! After 3 yrs and a few pivots, we finally had the right idea but little money and little energy to really pursue it. Shortly thereafter, a new startup (not my own but I'm an investor) came out and is now worth billions.
