Good part of Flatbush but I'd recommend checking out other parts of Brooklyn too. The borough is huge and each area has its own personality [park slope, williamsburg, bushwick, etc]. Long island city is up and coming too.

It isn’t what it looks like. Houses are very old and it’s a quiet neighborhood. Most of the houses are either vacant or rented out

It's nice if you like a more sleepy, suburban feel but still close to the the city. Sort of like Bernal Heights in SF. Lefferts Gardens nearby has some similar qualities, although more brownstones.

Don’t live there but it’s amazing. Even if the subway ride is as long as train to westchester, the subway comes every 2 minutes instead of every half hour. Also knickerbocker tennis club is in Ditmas—greatest place on earth
