A few years ago, I was absolutely against remote. I've changed my mind. Last week we officially ended our lease in Cali. Still have an office in Austin, but many of them are remote too. We'll see how this works out...

Good points Sam. I think the biggest challenges with remote tech companies are around collaboration, ideating/innovating, and culture/in-office energy. How will you try to recreate this remotely?

I'm not sure yet. I'm nervous about this.

Would be curious to hear why you were formerly so against remote employees?

I liked being near people

I’m starting to have those conversations in our office as well. Is full time remote something we are “dealing with” or do we want to “embrace” - and what does that look like. Exciting times.

Smart moves. It also moves more autonomy to employees which helps boost fulfillment and job satisfaction! Just got to make sure everyone understands the communication protocols and it’s smooth sailing

For your type of biz, don’t see the reason to pay California tech talent rates. Your tech needs aren’t so specific you need to compete with faang on talent.

Did covid cause you to flip on open offices or were you already starting to hate them pre-covid?
