When you think about it, the rank of least taboo to most is: 1. Alcohol 2. Cigarettes 3. Pot THIS IS NUTS. Should be: 1. Pot 2. Cigs 3. Alcohol The amount of damage (quantity+qualitity) alcohol causes is crazy compared to pot and cigarettes.
Malcolm Gladwell has a great talk on this where he says the same thing. And I 100% agree. Many people handle alcohol safely. But it's pretty wild how much damage it causes compared to how normal and accepted it is.

His ‘Talking to Strangers’ book did a great job dissecting how devastating the alcohol-ridden culture is especially in colleges. Worth reading the book just for that analysis.

It’s so well done & way different/better than most audiobooks. The part on binge drinking was so good. I particularly like the concept of myopia when ppl are blackout drunk. This needs to be talked about more with college kids
Truth. And amazing how inherently bad/selfish/insensitive smoking cigs is. I wonder how many cigs I’ve smoked secondhand.
