Agreed. Not scalable in any meaningful way if you have to use http://hey.com and pay to do that. Plus, Gmail can always steal these ideas if they’re any good.

I think they've found really creative and intelligent solution to a ton of the problems with email; I can see it exploding for a certain type of person or a certain type of role. Ubiquitous? Don't know if I see that, but wouldn't rule it out.

i'm not sure if they're aiming to make it a monster of a business. they seem to aim for products that just make a lot of profit, but not like gmail type size

Considering DHH & Jason's product expertise and experience of 20+ years running successful digital products, absolutely. Google left Gmail product stale + filled with shitty ads. I think millions of users are willing to pay $$ for a simplified + stress-free email experience.
