But he hasn't sold any stock, right? How can he be valued at a 20x revenue if he hasn't sold a share yet though? I get the company trading at that multiple though. Isn't the founder's net worth directly tied to the profits he's able to keep? thanks again for the info.

Why would anyone stay private then actually, now that I think about it? The public markets will value the company at 20x multiple so his net worth on paper will be reflected by this too, right?

well, this is one reason you IPO. however, it's quite possible they are generating $150m+ in free cash flow a year the dividends would be more than enough for most of us :)
