      .@jaltucher .@Gladwell Thoughts on huge spaces being vacated by retailers? Here, Nordstrom, Pier 1, Sears & maybe Penneys within 1-square-mile. We were already headed this way but at a slower pace before pandemic.

      Malls will turn into giant nursing homes as 72mm boomers start to hit their elderly years. (H/t @theSamParr because I can’t steal ALL of his ideas )

      Well, certainly not all of them... especially at the rate we boomers are already falling out. What else? My town is about 40,000 people, and 25 miles from DC, Baltimore & their densely populated/built suburban areas. E.g... 6 of these within a half hour drive, all closing.pic.twitter.com/M0l2dOFtmN

      Malls just can't survive. A mall depends on its anchor tenants. But it seems like all the anchor tenants are filing for bankruptcy. Malls were the new "town center". But now Main Street has moved to Zoom Street.

      Many are likely in talks with Amazon to sell/lease for last-mile warehousing. Others will reimagine as flex spaces (events, experiences, etc). Mark Cuban had said this will be a 3-5 year turn around and I just couldn’t see it. I now see he’s 100% right.

          Nursing homes I agree with. Schools, not so much. We’ve got unused academic infrastructure and Covid will likely accelerate the transformation of education. My 2 cents.
