How to hire writers.
I'm not an expert but have some experience. Here's what I look for, as well as what @bradwolverton, our head of content, looks for.

I'm one of those "generally smart" guys but many executives frame this in their own mind as "dabbler of many, master of none" and seen as only a negative. how do I reframe/change their mind?

develop a skill. Get super fucking good at 1 thing. Make that skill your outlet for exposing your general knowledge. 1 of my skills is copywriting. When I write, I steal from a wide variety of books, movies, magazines I have. I save cool stuff in my swipe file and refer to it

Could be design. Or architecture. Or M+A. Anything. But you need a skill as an outlet for that general knowledge. Cool shit happens when you combine diff ideas from diff areas of the world. Helps u see what's possible.
