Both some people late, some say later
When I finished phone convos, are people saying "later" and I just don't hear the "er" or are they saying "late"? I've heard this for years and I don't know what it means, but at this point I'm too afriad to ask.

I've heard late in st louis, but not in a long time. I hear later more. But I'm also 35 married with two kids now. Prob not cool enough to be up in the lingo anymore.

Lifelong NY'er here who moved to California about 7 years ago... took me about 6 years to figure out that people were saying "late." It will never not be weird to me

Audio has a few milliseconds delay, but a disconnect is almost instantaneous. Hence why the sound is chopped despite the hang up occouring after saying the word.
