I've heard late in st louis, but not in a long time. I hear later more. But I'm also 35 married with two kids now. Prob not cool enough to be up in the lingo anymore.

Lifelong NY'er here who moved to California about 7 years ago... took me about 6 years to figure out that people were saying "late." It will never not be weird to me

Audio has a few milliseconds delay, but a disconnect is almost instantaneous. Hence why the sound is chopped despite the hang up occouring after saying the word.

Mid to Late 90's skater slang...probably pre-dates you by a bit.
-
Aite, props to my dawg who knows his '90s skater slang, probably chillin' at his crib, 'bout to get down on some dank grub and a coding sesh. *Late* has always been a Socal way to say, "I'm out this bitch"

So many different languages in subcultures. Very interesting. - 1 more reply
