Austin is speaking truth here. Very relevant to create a sustainable paid newsletter. By charging for a newsletter you are monetizing your expertise, not anything else.https://twitter.com/austin_rief/status/1259512219311669248 …

@theSamParr had some tough advice on this on the Indie Hacker Podcast with@csallen. Some real gold in there!1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -
Yeah this take is wrong. Big time wrong. Paid newsletter is paid information. So only do paid info if you’re the best. No. Only do paid info if people want to buy it and like it.

That’s not the point here.
@austin_rief isn’t saying only the best should do paid. He’s saying that - if you’re not the best - you shouldn’t *only* produce a paid newsletter. You need free content etc too. Nothing controversial there IMO.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

I just think this is a stupid gate keeping rule. I try my hardest (I fail often) to not make these huge sweeping rules. There are thousands of ways to succeed and achieve a goal.

I understand your perspective. Most people will fail at sustaining a paid newsletter. This is inevitable considering how many will get in it for the money. Aspiring to be the best in the world is good advice, regardless. But maybe you disagree

Most will fail regardless.
