Austin is speaking truth here. Very relevant to create a sustainable paid newsletter. By charging for a newsletter you are monetizing your expertise, not anything else.https://twitter.com/austin_rief/status/1259512219311669248 …

Appreciate that Sam. Perhaps “best in the world” is too aggressive. My point is simply everyone is following the herd and creating paid newsletters. The problem is, the vast majority of these people aren’t that good. Their content is good, but not good enough to pay 100/year

So my advice to them is rather than charging and limiting their owned top of funnel, they create a a free relationship with more people, and then charge people later.

That’s the thing about advice. Bad for you and your psychology, possibly good for someone else and their psychology. Knowing what I do know about you (I’m a huge fan), I understand why you have this reaction and opinion. And empathize with your perspective. It depends, as always.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I worry this advice also underestimates the idea that the best way to get from good, to great, to best might be to start that newsletter. I don’t know if you can get to best without starting somewhere.

I am not saying don’t start. I believe starting with a free newsletter would be a better place to start. More feedback, larger marketing funnel to charge once you are great.
