Mmm. It clearly you have chosen your occupation because you LIKE to spend time “working”. If you valued downtime and balance you could easily choose something with more of that
If you value balance, do that and do loads of it work your ass off on it. If you value professional success above other stuff, work your ass off

Great perspective. My only point is that, often, the answer lies within. Whether you need to put more effort into your output, efficiency, picking projects, collaboration, etc - it all boils down to working harder. That said, work is not life. This is just advice for work. :)
