What's the best place to host a group/community these days?

I've been doing community for 10 years. Still have a lot to learn. But in my opinion, Slack is mostly a platform people think will be good for community, but never is. FAcebooks' best because it has the eyeballs. People are already on it. It has lots of downsides. But is best
I have maybe 150,000 people in all my communities. I'm a part owner in companies that have 1,000,000 members (on FB). And I have insider knowledge of $1b/year businesses that rely on FB for community. I can't find the same for slack.

That’s very impressive - I’m a member of one of your communities and enjoy it. However, with respect, your evidence for not focusing on quantity of engagement were stats about the size of your communities. The quality of community I’ve found in some slack groups is much better.
