Being part of a Facebook group means wading through the rest of Facebook. Slack group is the group without the noise.

Slack without the noise? WTF!? How many Slack notifications do you get a day? 100s, 1,000s? A TON!

It would be interesting to know who voted that also runs successful groups. I have tried them all. I can tell you that if the group is in the hundreds (and definitely if it’s in the thousands), FB is your best option.

I respect your opinion, because I think you're more knowledgeable than I am on the subject, but I loathe Facebook. I find the organization repugnant and I personally don't know anyone in my tech circles who uses their Facebook anymore. Most keep the profile or have placeholder.

Maybe people say the same thing. But still, everyone has one. and most check at least weekly. Which is better than most forums.

I love slack communities. You can divide channels based on topics. Nobody has to connect on FB. FB is very personal.
