Can’t stand when people blame “the media” for things. “The media” is just a person or group of people. Anyone with a twitter, Instagram, YouTube. Have a smart phone? You’re media.

It's implicit that "the media" means the popular media. Me having a smart phone with 300 followers out of which 200 are twitter eggs does not make me "media" .
So where’s the line drawn before you’re “the media”. What size twitter following?

It's a spectrum, isnt it? You with 12k followers will have much more impact than me. And bill gates' impact is a magnitude higher! And news bodies (fox, nyt, cnn etc) have even higher impact. More the impact => one has to tweet more responsibly.

My point is I didn’t have a big following until a few things went viral. I’ve gone viral with tiny or no followings.

If you tweet something crazy and go viral - are you media? I had only a couple thousand followers a few months ago Brewster something that got millions of impressions.
