A point that can't be overlooked...the average Joe with a Twitter account doesn't get paid for clicks... The "media" does. So they are directly incentivized to do whatever it takes to generate clicks... Avg Joe may be ignorant in their distribution...but not malicious.

Create a blog. Put Adsense on it. Boom. You can make money. Also, getting a big following on Twitter, yes no ads but loads of ways to monetize...and the rush of building a huge following and likes for a Lil guy is as motivating as the big cos making big money.

What happens when the media calls out and blames other media - happens all the time on ever distribution channel.

It's implicit that "the media" means the popular media. Me having a smart phone with 300 followers out of which 200 are twitter eggs does not make me "media" .

So where’s the line drawn before you’re “the media”. What size twitter following?

Media is someone getting paid to promote an opinion or agenda. Me with my smartphone is passing time whilst I'm taking a dump.

I bet...you’d be more motivated by going viral and getting 50k likes than getting $500 for your poop tweets.
