Managers in need of a role do not articulate what they need to HR properly then HR gets a candidate for what they heard, not what’s needed. In the interview they “tell me about what you did?” That question doesn’t do it, “what do you want to do here?” That’s a better question.1/2

Asking that question WILL excite the right candidate. The HR people though, they ask set questions about a job they may not 100% get. Where honestly, they should worry more about the culture fit and let the managers and even coworkers discover if the person can do the job. 2/2
