Is there any good reporting on what happened to the trendy media things that were going to be the future? Like do people still visit: theSkimm, Mic, Cheddar, Vice, Axios, The Outline, Upworthy , ViralNova, LittleThings, Refinery29,BuzzFeed, Vox, Ozy, Vocativ , etc?

So, do answer your question of "do people still visit:" The answer is 100%, without a doubt, yes. And in many cases, millions of people a month do.
My source: in most cases I know or work with the people who own or operate these. In some cases, there are ways to find out ballpark numbers.

Are you saying that you think any of my numbers above are wrong because people are lying? Because all those numbers are INCREDIBLY low and are numbers that I'd bet both our bank accounts to be true.
