I think that’s his point. How many people have easy access to that kind of capital to start their own business? He could have lost all his parents money without any real consequences. That’s opportunity most don’t have.

And if you can’t convince a handful of people to collectively loan you $50k to 100k (meaning $5k to 25k each) then I can’t imagine you can handle the stress of operating a small business.

Depending on what you set your “starting” point to be, it can. But it certainly doesn’t cost anywhere near $100k to start a viable construction or plumbing business.
