The vast majority of Americans identify as Christian. Being religious is very mainstream.

To say being religious isn't mainstream in America is crazy. The majority presidents, maybe besides the present, was a Christian who attended service and had a religious advisor, in god we trust is written on our money, you need to swear on a religious book for public office.
