Would you rather: own 100% of a business that grows 10-20% a year or 10% of something 3x-ing?

Option B could be a real business, but real businesses make money. SV companies are generally set up to raise money, without a real plan for profitability. There are outliers like Amazon, but most end up failing. I also value long term thinking over 5-year exit plans.

This is completely false. Many fail but all successful VC backed companies have a plan to profitability and a long term (10+ yr) plan.
