Does Vox make a profit each year?

Seems crazy to demand raises if the company loses money or barely makes a profit.

Or maybe they pay their executives too much? Neither of us know. All employees, whether they be CEO or janitor should have a contact.

All employees have agreements. And if you don’t perform, you get the boot. It’s how a team works. Pull your weight or get off.

And that agreement has been modified and amicably agreed to with the mutual consent of both parties.

Oh I know. It’s mind boggling. They should have argued for profit sharing. This way everyone’s incentives are aligned. Vox business model isn’t set up for high earning writers. It’s set up to create pageviews at the cheapest rate. Their business isn’t booming, this will only hurt

Replying to @theSamParr @Don_Shipman and
Would be very upset if I were a VC invested in vox. Hard to see how they get a return.

Perhaps they won’t, but that’s the hazards of being a VC. Profit sharing is only useful to rank and file once competitive wages are in place. Hopefully the next agreement will address it.

If most NYC media companies are unionizing due to “uncompetitive wages” then doesn’t that mean the market has decided what a competitive wage is? And if these people keep working there then the wages ARE competitive.

This would depend on the metrics used to calculate a “competitive wage.”pic.twitter.com/O2yBi1CaEQ

Ok so they should move to Missouri. I think St. Louis, my home town, would love to have them.

I’m would pick my home state over yours, but that’s their decision. I assume the labor agreement reached today doesn’t provide for moving expenses.
