We need housing growth across the state, and all communities must contribute, especially those that have prevented growth in the past. We need housing supply targets for all communities, with teeth behind them, and we need transit-oriented development.

NY will need to build over 817K housing units in the next decade to address current needs and meet expected population/job growth, according to – a 9% increase from the existing housing stock. We need bold commitments.

We need a transformative statewide housing policy that can address this issue & its spillover effects, from NYC & my home county of Westchester, to Long Island, to Upstate & everywhere in between. This is the only way to guarantee that supply can continue to meet the demand.

Housing agencies are understaffed, affecting services. Cutting staff will make this permanent. HPD down 18%, DOB down 23%, DCP down 22%, DHS down 11%, HRA down 20%. Sign-On to Oppose Staffing Cuts and to Increase Housing Resources
