I had to deal with nintendo doing that pretty aggressively so I'm leery of it generally. it's fine here I think, it's not invasive and doesn't feel like I'm being nudged away from a game but I still don't see the purpose of it. Why not just stop when you're bored?
the experience is better when you take your time and pay attention. but exploring and finding secrets is addicting, and playtesters would easily fall into 10+ hour sessions, at the end of which they were exhausted and forgot half of what they just did.
I guess I'm just used to seeing this as a "parents get upset their kids play video games for too long instead of doing something the parents would prefer" deal instead of an "actually a problem" deal, again thanks to nintendo... it's not obtrusive here so it's fine for others ig
some people want to play games that way and it's totally fine if they do. but some people will keep playing a game long after they stopped having fun because they don't stop to think about it. giving them a chance to reevaluate that is a kindness.
I'm a completionist and I get that. Knowing when to stop is definitely a learned skill. I started out streaming the game but realized I'd have a better experience recording it in my off-time, and the chapters have prompted me to check recording length at least twice now.
