in english, spanish and german the player character is never gendered. but if the player is playing in a language where we couldn't avoid gendering them, we add an extra screen to the intro for the player to choose a gender identity.

I understand the intent but with my playthrough I found that they left the player a little TOO much on tense cliff hanger, especially since most of the time there'd be another character to talk to nearby immediately after it to ease the tension a little bit

If they were just a LITTLE further after the action that usually just took place I think they'd be perfect since often these screens would show up, I'd play for like a minute or two more THEN save and quit to decompress if that makes sense

started out like that, but shortly after each chapter title, the player gets a new brush power and usually that's the point at which folks most want to continue playing so they can use the new ability (and also tend to forget the new controls if they quit just after getting it)
