Moving to canada was eye-opening for me wrt. healthcare. People live with a lot less health fear here. I think that's a big reason why Canada's indie game scene is so huge relative to its tiny population--folks have greater opportunity to take risks when there's a safety net.
I'm deeply concerned about the environment and conservation. I've been making lifestyle changes to that effect, but it's obvious that if we want to maximize the habitability of earth in the next century we need broader change, something bernie aligns with me on as well.
But I think the most immediate, screamingly obvious issue that impacts every living person in the us is wealth inequality. no matter your thoughts on capitalism as a system, it's clear to me that this issue needs to be addressed in some capacity to improve everyone's life...
my own financial standing has changed very dramatically in the last year thanks to the success of wandersong. this has not changed my views on the fact that the acceleration of wealth inequality is immoral and needs urgent attention. this is a key issue to bernie as well.
all of the above represents change that would demonstrably be very good and healthy for the states, and would improve everybody's opportunity for life and success, which is an overall obvious net positive for society.
I see my vote for bernie as consistent with my personal convictions to try to make the world a better place through my actions. feels silly to put it in such optimistic terms, esp. on twitter where people usually focus on their anger/negativity, but these are my genuine thoughts.
There is absolutely no question our studio would not exist without universal healthcare
Once you leave the states, all of the terrible fucked-up things back there stand in such stark contrast. Healthcare is such a powerful example. I pay so much less for healthcare in NL than friends in the states, and I’ve never had to worry about it bankrupting me regardless.
