I learned my lesson last year... wandersong launched September 27 and every major site that had been in touch with us before release was wall to wall on coverage of a AAA cowboy game when wandersong actually came out

A lot of journalists didn’t get around to it until December or January... that was partially why so many major gaming sites wrote about our steam “learning about this game” bug this January.

It was kind of a bummer in that context to see people at kotaku and polygon say wandersong was one of their 2018 GOTYs... like, a couple weeks after they had published their GOTY lists without it.

Moom'll bop me for this but maybe shooting for a month or so after a particular big release is a good idea? That way talk will likely have died down a little and some players will be looking for their next fix.

September is especially crazy this year. Normally I'm used to buying 2 or 3 games a week for September to November but there are much much more notable games launching each week right now.
