Hello! We need to talk about @weetim.
If you don't know about Tim, you should read up on him. Whenever people ask him who my role model is, he is always the top answer.
Tim had a key role in defining what "indie games" are now, and I don't think he gets enough credit for that

If it wasn't for Tim, I would argue that Minecraft wouldn't be as big as it is today. He was the very first person on the entire internet to write about it, and a bunch of other big names wrote about it as a result. http://www.indiegames.com/2009/05/browser_game_pick_minecraft_ma.html …

When Tim wrote about the original Spelunky (again, the first to do so), interest in the game skyrocketed. I'm not sure if Spelunky HD would exist without him talking about it http://indiegames.com/2008/12/freeware_game_pick_spelunky_de.html …

Tim was the guy covering all of Cactus' games, long before Hotline Miami was a thing. I don't think Cactus would be where he was without Tim http://indiegames.com/2009/06/freeware_game_pick_evac_cactus.html …

I could go on and on and on -- pretty much every big name dev who has been around for the last decade probably owes at least something to Tim. Tim's feverish reporting on indie games, starting more than a decade ago, helped define what "indie" is now. He's a game industry legend

Tim found my first game in the game maker forums and was the first person anywhere to write about anything I did. I barely had a concept of an indie games scene before then; he catapulted me to visibility and changed my life
