I'd love to see the conversation evolve beyond a linear rubric of "too easy," "too hard"... HOW games utilize difficulty, the dance of challenge and emotional tension and how it speaks to the themes of the game... idk... I think about this too much

FPSes would 100% be better with a dance you can whip out at any time though. Fortnite even proves this. Fortnite basically copied Wandersong on the whole dance button thing, and I feel insufficient credit for this is given.

The unfortunate, but realistic part of reviews is that in the end, they are entirely opinion-based. Even when they say "this game is fun and engrossing", it is also entirely opinion.

You have to take every review with a grain of salt (whether you're a developer or a player), even if it's entirely in your favor. The overall score they give in the end is THEIR own personal score, and not the absolute inherent value of the product they're reviewing.

Reviewers should be happy when the game is easy and they can actually finish it by deadline instead of trying to gloss over only playing half of the game.
