And, if we assume that total traffic since the feature is up for indirect algorithmic reasons because of it, we can see that a curator feature, in terms of raw visibility (impressions) absolutely blasted a TB video out of the water. Clickthrough rate is way lower, tho.

Granted, DQDX had JUST come out when TB did his video, perhaps that's why the clickthrough rate was so high then. Now that version of the game is two years older, who knows. But what I really want to know now is what the traffic effects of TB's (#1) Steam curator account are!

In case Genna Bain is reading this, to be clear I'm 100% not begging for a spot, even for "Science" -- my point is just that, these Steam Curator spots, at least the top ones, are a lot more powerful in 2018 than many realize. The implications of that I leave to the reader.

(And totally understand if she's intentionally leaving it dormant as a sort of memorial or something like that.)

Anyways, my point is many people want Steam to be curated in at least a soft sense of having some people select "for quality" what gets featured on the front page. My hypothesis is that task is very strongly influenced by the top 10 accounts here: https://store.steampowered.com/curators/topcurators/ …?

(I make no statement right now on whether this is a good or a bad thing, just pointing out that it is probably happening).

For what it's worth -- digging through my stats I did see that even my game got hit at least a little bit by the "October Bug" pattern others have seen. But, it was washed out of the overall traffic because the recent uplift from the curator feature counteracted it by so much.
