If you're someone who likes indie games, I HIGHLY recommend you move your shopping to http://itch.io , where games cost the same but developers earn more. This makes a huge difference for small devs.

Basically that, they are saying they don't care about developers / publishers unless they are already rich enough to afford advertising and make the numbers they're asking for.

This move absolutely makes sense as the big game devs with an established market had little incentive to release on steam at launch. This makes the most sense for Valve. Steam gives small devs a massive market to tap into - good luck on other platforms

I agree but at the same time as more large devs move away from steam were going to start seeing people spend less time using steam to buy games. Discord is becoming a hub for games of all platforms and auto adds any preinstalled games so if big devs stay then we benifit

It is defidently unfair but if they made the bar lower for indie devs then large companies would be making even more then what they will be with these changes.

It's to combat the stupid amount of launchers that have begun to pile up: Origin, Bethesda, Epic. FO76 isn't even available through steam. If the big AAA games stop selling on the platform, that's most of the money the store uses to host indie titles gone.

Not saying steam is necessarily fair to indie devs, just saying the big publishers front a lot of cost, and as games get more downloaded and less bought in store, many are questioning selling on steam at all
