As a longtime Pokémon fan, I am in total disbelief to be saying this: The new Pokémon games are totally sweet, and are doing really good new things that I hope the main series picks up on 0-0

Aside from that, the game is a little too casual for a lot of current pokemon fans, with the game allowing you to run from trainer fights, not letting you challenge a gym unless you have a type effective pokemon or npcs giving you pokemon you can't obtain anywhere else
Oh, I didn’t encounter the gym restriction... but that sounds dull T_T that works against the “play any way” that I love about it. I personally enjoy selecting for difficulty (set battle mode, staying under-leveled), and so far I’ve felt my choices validated

(But yeah it could be a LOT harder and I’d still enjoy it... more options for harder challenges would make me happy).
