As a longtime Pokémon fan, I am in total disbelief to be saying this: The new Pokémon games are totally sweet, and are doing really good new things that I hope the main series picks up on 0-0

I’ve mused more than once how cool it would be for Pokémon to go “open world” and let you explore the region like in breath f the wild or something... But the design changes in these games work to create the same kind of experience, I think

Oh and plus there’s so little tutorial/hand holding/mandatory text! The pacing isn’t bad! I mean yeah it’s basically just red and blue so they had that for free... but I expected them to muck it up... >_>;

I’ve played Kanto a million times and I’m STILL fired up bc of the new frictionless design... This format in a new region would rock my world. Next time, would love to see more out of order exploration. Also let me pet all my Pokémon (they already animated them for that...)

no seriously though this point actually caught me off guard. i didn't realize how much i actually don't care about wild pokemon battles until they were taken away, and it feels like it gives the trainer battles so much more room to breath/feel more unique

Conversely, it also makes me enjoy wild encounters a lot more because I always opted in to then. Honestly, I get to enjoy everything more because I’m always doing what I want to/chose to do :)

This is so huge. It dawned on me early in the game that even though the low difficulty level made my team a bit overleveled, it no longer mattered the way it did in past games thanks to no longer needing to weaken Pokémon to capture them.

It's wild that before now I'd never considered how much of an improvement it'd make to no longer have those two major systems that made up the bulk of the game working at cross purposes.
