not to call out someone specifically, but stuff like this really shows where our culture is. only in games would you call singing to someone "using music as a weapon"https://twitter.com/ugn_gaming/status/1039406752519708672 …

People also often say wandersong has a "musical combat system." Like... it can't just be singing. It has to be COMBAT. someone has to be hurt! right??

I know it's all with good intention... it just shows where our assumptions are. I hope gamedevs will keep working to change this!

thinking about it more, it might just be that we're so used to using these words we don't even think about what they mean anymore. Anything used is a "weapon." An interaction is "combat." that's just what games are. We can do better than that though.

Here’s what they said! It looks like English isn’t their first language so I feel bad for the example I chose... but my point still stands that games should be less violent x)https://twitter.com/ugn_gaming/status/1039702472032276481 …

United Gaming Network @ugn_gamingAls antwoord op @theBanovHello@theBanov, we apologize for the misunderstanding. We were referring to a 'weapon' in the sense that its a 'tool' to solve problems, connotation to gaming culture otherwise. Kinda like how one can say: "Using Awareness as a Weapon to Fight Global Warming".

Idk, I don't see why games "should be less violent". (Unrelated to wandersong) I don't like any of the M rated, blood and gore games myself, but others like them and developers should be free to make the game however they want. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding your meaning though

Totally. The lack of alternatives is what bothers me, and leads to a culture where people assume singing in wandersong is somehow violence
