New EUSS statistics published this week. While of course we recognise the success of processing over 5 million applications in 2.5 years, we are seriously concerned about the backlog. April only shaved 18,800 off the backlog, which now STILL stands at over 300,000 applications.

It applies to all EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and their non-EU family members. It applies even if they have a Permanent Residence document It applies even if they're a new-born baby (Dual British nationals, Irish citizens, or those with existing ILR do not need to apply)

Trying to talk to the EU Settlement Resolution Centre for the last 5 days to resolve a problem updating my new passport information. Always we do "not have more space in our queue" (phone line). Great service.

A mailshot sent to thousands of people instructing them to apply for EU settled status before the end of June shows weaknesses in the Home Office’s databases, and a lack of bureaucratic clarity about who has the right to live in the UK.

Many EU children in care or leaving care (over 60%!) don't have EU Settlement Scheme status. With less than 4⃣6⃣ days to go to the deadline, this is extremely concerning. These children are supposed to be in the care of their local authority.

Many parents don't realise they must also apply for status for their children. New-born babies 👶must have an application for status within 3⃣ months of their birth. (Unless the child is British - see here for more information: )

Today is National Children's Day . It's also less than 4⃣6⃣ days until the EU Settlement Scheme deadline - leaving many children at risk of losing their lawful status in the UK after 1 July 2021. Consequences may only become visible decades into the future.

This hasn’t succeeded for now but read the case update for more on how “will continue to support and campaign for the option of a physical backup document for all EU citizens who wish to have one” and how “positive changes have been made as a result of the claim”

The need to clear this backlog, and communicate clearly and widely on rights with pending applications. They need to issue guidance to employers and landlords as soon as possible. They need to see the individual behind each application. 'The face behind the case'.
