A party that cannot figure out how to beat a guy who is currently scheming to force parents to submit to a government database on the menstrual cycles of their children should just hang it up.

NEW: Democrats are worried about running against DeSantis in 2024, given his age (44 vs. Biden's 80) + his experience running a big, diverse state. They know the playbook of how to win against Trump but are trying to figure out how to thwart Fla. governor: bloomberg.com/news/articles/

We’ve known this threat to IVF in Texas. ’s team had discussions with IVF doctors across the state. I had them with IVF doctors in my District. One of my friends, , also shared concerns with me. Opposition to abortion is about control and power, not life.

If you thought we were overreacting about the overturn of Roe let me present: Abortion bills in Wyoming, Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas. Some of these clearly prohibit IVF as we know it. All impact reproductive care and risk maternal life. Your IVF docs have been warning of this.

The first thing the GOP majority did was remove metal detectors, then a GOP rep sent grenades to his colleagues, and now the GOP majority is wanting to overturn a rule against bringing firearms to committee hearings. All of this following a violent insurrection.

Tense, drawn-out debate between Rs and Ds over bringing firearms to Nat Res Cmte hearings. Dems put a rule in place last Congress banning firearms during cmte hearings. Republicans want to get rid of that, calling it redundant given overall House rules.

FYI: this is how the College Board is trying to spin their pro white supremacy stance & bowing to the racism and homophobia of DeSantis. They’re celebrating their cowardice. Let’s at least ratio the shit out of this and make sure they know what BS this is.👇🏾

I could not for the life of me understand why they cancelled this reading, but I think I figured it out! And I think I’m gonna call Hoover City Superintendent Dee Fowler on his public line at 205-439-1000 to let him know what I think abt this & think maybe you should, too 🧐

A staunchly illiberal politician is ruthlessly pursuing his authoritarian agenda. Yet what the New York Times wants us to take away from the situation in Florida is that DeSantis is taking on the “establishment” and successfully building “his brand.”

A good question to ask is, who benefits, politically speaking, if there is more fear & killing in Florida? Who benefits from raising anxiety (and thereby shutting down critical thinking)?

INSANE: Ron DeSantis wants Florida residents to carry firearms without a permit. In Jan alone, there’s been 49 mass shootings and more than 3,400 gun deaths, including 138 dead children. If Ron DeSantis gets what he wants, expect more dead Americans.

The "what about the children?!" stuff was an obvious, deliberate rebrand because the bathroom bills went nowhere. Thanks to all the mainstream journalists who made this seem like a reasonable concern and not a straightforward conservative crackdown on LGBT rights!

They're just outright admitting it on the record to the NYT that the focus on trans youth were just a pretext to eventually ban all gender affirming care. They never cared about children. We told you so. nyti.ms/3j8XJVR

It was never “leave it to the states.” It was always “control women’s bodies.” Just like feminists said.

Holy shit. Top Republican Jim Banks just indicated he wants to find a way to stop “young ladies” from “hopping in a car” to travel to another state for reproductive care. He agreed the fact that women can travel for care means “the fight is far from over.”

These population panic stories always ignore one key issue: how patriarchy is incompatible with modernity. Why do educated, employed women in Japan, Italy, etc. refuse to have babies in societies where men do not equally share the labor-intensive care of children and homes? Hmm🤔

A basic fact about Florida's ban on AP African American Studies: since the creation of the Advanced Placement program in 1952, no state has ever refused to certify an AP course until now. No state has put politics ahead of its students' access to early college credit until now.

Just a fun reminder that would rather spend millions on “authors” like Ron DeSantis, who is currently banning their books, than the passionate, experienced staff of the *making* the books.

anyone who thinks it's excessively burdensome to ask teachers to respect a trans kid's preferred name should know that my sister Catherine announced on her first day of Catholic high school in 1994 "I would like to go by Raven" and to this DAY that's what those teachers call her
